The MBA Engineers Hi-Way
is a website for all
engineers, but especially those with a Masters in Business
Administration (MBA). Everyone is welcome to browse the site, but
some activities require being a member.
Mission of the MBA Engineers Hi-Way:
The purpose of this website is to promote the interests of engineering
service provider companies, and individual engineers, whether as
independents or employed by engineering firms, through the principles and
methodologies of sound business practices and marketing techniques.
Founder of MBA Engineers Hi-Way:
My name is Sam Johnson and I live In Frederick, Maryland. I have
a BE in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in Nashville,
TN, and an MBA from Frostburg State University in Maryland.
In my "capstone" course in my MBA program, I completed a
Business Plan and a Marketing Plan for a small engineering design
firm. A key part of that study was a survey of small engineering
firms in the Mid-Atlantic region, the five state area including Maryland,
West Virginia, Virginia and South Carolina. (The results of that
study are posted on this site.) To make a long story short,
it became obvious to me that engineering firms can benefit tremendously
from the fundamental principles learned in the course of acquiring an MBA.
The primary purposes of this website are to
(1) convey those principles to its members and, at
the same time,
(2) provide a forum for collaboration.
This website will provide tools to its members to leverage their
resources through discussion forums, articles of interest, convenient
links to related websites and other features intended to give members
ideas for improving their businesses. In doing so, it will provide a
crossroads for meeting other engineering firms with complementary
interests to promote partnering and teamwork to improve the bottom line
for all involved, a true "win - win" association.
